August 26, 2022 — GCT continues to advance desktop studies to evaluate the wealth of publicly available information and is committed to working with academia, stakeholders, Indigenous nations and others to continue to build on the extensive body of knowledge that exists for Roberts Bank and surrounding areas. Notice of Commencement of an Impact Assessment - IAAC
May 31, 2022 – The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) has commenced an impact assessment pursuant to the Impact Assessment Act (IAA) for the GCT Deltaport Expansion – Berth Four Project (the Project). On November 3, 2021, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, referred the impact assessment of the Project to an independent review panel.
The Agency has issued the Joint Guidelines and required plans, developed in collaboration with British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Office, to the proponent to guide the development of the Impact Statement for the Project:

On October 28, 2021, GCT’s Deltaport Expansion – Berth Four Project (DP4) Detailed Project Description was accepted, and the Readiness Decision Report along with the Readiness Decision Order was issued recommending that the Project proceed to the next phase of an Environmental Assessment.

Public Comment Period & Virtual Information Sessions
As part of the cooperative project review process, the Agency and the EAO are inviting the public and Indigenous groups to review the initial project description and provide feedback related to the proposed project. The attached document provides an overview of engagement options.
GCT is continuing to undertake Early Engagement activities on the Project and has prepared this Engagement Plan to ensure that key parties to the EA are identified early in the EA process, and provide a common understanding of how each party will be engaged.
