This house post, titled the Salish Sea Spirit, represents the deep roots and traditional knowledge that bonds the Tsawwassen First Nation community’s identity to these lands, water, and air. And now, it stands as a symbol of stewardship at the mouth of the Salish Sea. This traditional work of art was crafted from red cedar by renowned Artist and Carver, Karl Morgan of the Tsawwassen First Nation, and commissioned by Global Container Terminals.

On June 25, 2022 GCT Deltaport welcomed the community back to the terminal for an Open House to mark out 25th anniversary of operations in the community.

Impressive logistics and team work across the supply chain to deliver two megamax ship-to-shore cranes across the pacific, navigate into Vancouver’s Burrard Inlet and onto the GCT Vanterm Berth. This successful delivery was completed in late November 2020 and the new cranes will go into service in early 2021.

GCT Vanterm is located in the Port of Vancouver, and is among the most productive container terminals in North America. Through densification, Global Container Terminals’ expansion of GCT Vanterm will sustainably increase container capacity by 25%+, giving our customers the ability to seamlessly grow their business with us.

Already equipped to handle the megaships transiting the Asia-Pacific tradelanes, the GCT Deltaport Intermodal Yard expansion will increase efficiency, productivity, and overall capacity at the terminal all within the existing footprint. Watch video for more details.
