GCT Vanterm Maintenance Expansion & Renovation Project
GCT Vanterm Maintenance Expansion & Renovation Project
Dear Community Member,
Please be advised that GCT Canada will commence the GCT Vanterm Maintenance Expansion and Renovation Project on October 31, 2017.
GCT Canada is the largest maritime employer in the country. The Project will provide additional office space and ancillary facilities to support our growing terminal workforce. It includes two additional equipment maintenance bays and increased parts storage areas, improving the efficiency and productivity of our servicing and maintenance practices.
The Project includes:
- Renovating 3,500 ft2 of existing internal maintenance workspaces;
- Adding a new 3,800 ft2 double bay maintenance service area with energy efficient heating and lighting;
- Adding 6,000 ft2 of office space, lunchroom, and washroom facilities;
- Replacing existing external lighting with energy-efficient LED fixtures to reduce glare; and
- Improving capture and treatment infrastructure to mitigate any spill risk to Burrard Inlet.
Construction activities will occur entirely on-site during GCT Vanterm’s normal daily operating schedule. Pile-driving activities will be limited to regular permitted working hours, and will only occur for a short duration.
Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s standard hours of construction are as follows:
- Monday to Saturday 07:00 to 20:00
- No work on Sundays and Statutory Holidays
