Hapag-Lloyd celebrates 125 years!
In 1892, the steamship “Cremon” set sail from Europe to Canada for the first time under the Hapag-Lloyd flag. This year, the industry-leading pioneer celebrates its 125 year long history calling the country.
GCT and Hapag-Lloyd’s partnership spans decades, seamlessly transporting goods and supporting the growth of the Canadian economy. Earlier this year, the newly expanded GCT Deltaport terminal had the honour of welcoming the Hapag-Lloyd “Antwerpen Express”, the largest container vessel ever to call in Canada. The 13,200 TEU vessel is four times the size of original “Cremon”, showing just how much our industry has grown. From all of us at GCT, we wish Hapag-Lloyd a very happy birthday and we look forward working together for the next 125 years!
