GLOBAL CONTAINER TERMINALS ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD CHAIR
VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA – GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. (GCT) today announced that Brenda Eprile has been appointed Chair of the Board and will join the Board as an independent director, effective March 1, 2021.
Ms. Eprile is a seasoned Canadian executive and corporate director with experience across a variety of industries. She has served on numerous board committees, and as board chair of two publicly listed companies, Westport Fuel System Inc. and Home Capital Group Ltd. Ms. Eprile has significant experience leading major transformations and is well versed in working with government and regulatory authorities.
Ms. Eprile had a distinguished career in finance and professional services, leading the national risk consulting practice for PwC and as Executive Director and Chief Accountant at the Ontario Securities Commission.
In addition to her role as Chair of GCT, Ms. Eprile currently serves as a director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Westport Fuel System Inc. and is also a director of Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, a NASDAQ-listed company.
Based in Toronto, ON, Ms. Eprile is a supporter of the arts and not-for-profit sector, previously serving as a long-time board member of the National Cancer Institute of Canada and Canadian Cancer Society and more recently on the Board of Canada’s National Ballet School.

Brenda Eprile was appointed an independent director and Chair of the Board of GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. in March 2021. Ms. Eprile is also a director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Westport Fuel System Inc., a TSX and NASDAQ-listed company that invents, engineers, builds and supplies clean alternative fuel systems and components. Ms. Eprile has been a director of Westport since 2013, and previously served as Chair of the Board from February 2017 to April 2020, where she oversaw a major transformation of Westport’s business, and as Chair of the HRC committee.
Ms. Eprile is also a director of Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, a NASDAQ-listed company that owns and operates renewable energy, efficient natural gas, transmission and transportation infrastructure and water assets. Atlantica has operating facilities in North and South America and EMEA. She joined the board in May 2020 and is Chair of the Audit Committee.
From 2016 to 2018, Ms. Eprile also served as a director of TSX-listed alternative mortgage lender Home Capital Group Ltd., where she became Chair of the Board in 2017 and was part of leading Home Capital’s efforts in responding to a severe liquidity and regulatory crisis and in obtaining the support of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. as a major strategic investor. From 2000 to 2012, Ms. Eprile was a Senior Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and led its Canadian Risk Advisory Services practice. From 1998 to 2000, Ms. Eprile led the Canadian Regulatory Risk practice at Deloitte LLP. From 1985 to 1997, Ms. Eprile had a distinguished career as a securities regulator in Canada, holding the positions of both Executive Director and Chief Accountant at the Ontario Securities Commission.
Ms. Eprile is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant and holds the ICD.D designation. Ms. Eprile also holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
