A Clear Path to a Greener Future
At Global Container Terminals, sustainability is more than a goal—it’s a responsibility. Through our Global Commitment, we’re taking real, measurable steps to reduce our environmental impact while ensuring safety and supporting the communities we operate in.
We’ve committed to reducing absolute emissions by 45% by 2030 and reaching Net Zero by 2050, guided by our four-pillar decarbonization roadmap:
✅ Efficiency & Optimization
✅ Renewable Fuels
✅ Electrification
✅ Zero-Emission Equipment
Today, we’re proud to announce another step in that journey: the purchase of 10 hybrid Konecranes RTGs for GCT Deltaport and the first fully battery-powered RTG, by Konecranes which will be piloted at GCT Vanterm.
These investments are part of our long-term strategy to decarbonize operations—aligned with the Paris Agreement targets and backed by action, not just ambition.
“GCT is a proud Konecranes customer, and the quality of their RTG product and the support their people provide is second to none. Our Global Commitment includes reaching 45% absolute emission reductions by 2030 to meet the Paris Agreement reduction targets and Net Zero emissions by 2050. With these latest orders for our two container terminals in British Columbia, we’re making big steps towards these goals.”
— Daniel Howell, Chief Operating Officer, GCT Global Container Terminals
