An award-winning expansion in 2014 introduced modern equipment and a safer, more fluid design, making GCT Bayonne once of the most advanced facilities in North America. Leveraging the design, technology, and process improvements from its berth and landside modernization, the facility’s yard and gate complex was further upgraded, enabling GCT Bayonne to become the first terminal to introduce a comprehensive truck appointment system on the East Coast in 2017, drastically improving cargo-handling speed as well as smoothing traffic and reducing emissions as featured by the US EPA. In 2019, GCT Bayonne ExpressRail Port Jersey began operations, enhancing service levels even further with fast, seamless connections to inland destinations across North America. Coupled with leading crane productivity, the new intermodal yard provides our customers with first and last port-of-call advantage for their rail cargo.
