GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. announces new President and Chief Executive Officer

VANCOUVER, BC – Paul M. Tellier, P.C., C.C., Q.C., Chairman of the Board of GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. today announced the appointment of Stephen Edwards as President and Chief Executive Officer effective September 10, 2012.

“Stephen is an experienced international leader in the maritime transportation industry with a solid background in terminal operations and management. We are confident that his global experience and strategic focus will bring significant benefit to our organization,” said Tellier. Edwards will be responsible for the leadership and operations for GCT’s facilities in Canada and the United States.

Edwards was President and CEO of Ports America, the largest terminal operating and stevedoring company in the U.S., from 2007 to 2010. Prior to this, he worked with the P&O Group for 17 years in progressively senior operations and management roles including appointments in Rotterdam, London, Singapore and Dubai. Recently, he was a senior consultant at a U.S. based firm providing executive advice to the maritime and ports industry.

In addition to more than 20 years of marine terminal operations experience, Edwards holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Transport Management from Aston University in England.
